About
Hi! I’m Itai Sfaradi, a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. I am a physict by training and data scientist by practice. My academic research focuses on time-domain astrophysics - studying how the universe evolves through explosive transients such as supernovae and tidal disruption events. I combine real-life observations with theoretical models to probe the physical processes driving these phenomena and their connection to black hole activity and stellar death.
My work has focused on studying extreme cosmic events, which involves working with large, noisy datasets and building statistical and machine-learning models to extract physical insights. Through that experience I’ve developed a strong foundation in quantitative problem-solving, coding, and communicating complex results clearly, often leading collaborative projects from idea to publication.
I am always happy to collaborate!
